Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic, entry level editor who is detail-minded, deadline-driven, organized and can write and produce engaging story packages. The Associate/Features editor is responsible for The Astorian's weekly Coast Weekend magazine, and the Weekend Break feature of The Astorian. It's an exciting opportunity for an experienced and creative journalist with strong editing and writing skills and the ability to nurture and recruit freelance writers and columnists.
The Associate/Features editor serves as the editor of Coast Weekend and is responsible for every aspect of its publication--editing, writing, coordinating coverage by freelancers and overseeing design. Coast Weekend is a weekly arts and entertainment magazine focusing on art, music, food, culture, history, books and the outdoors in Astoria, Oregon. This position also serves as the digital editor for discoverourcoast.com, the popular online magazine counterpart for Coast Weekend and Our Coast magazine and runs those social media accounts.The Associate/Features editor works with the News Editor to assist with copy editing and production of the 3x weekly newspaper, The Astorian. The successful applicant will have demonstrated multimedia and social media skills for our digital first newsroom.
