The Campus Safety Officer has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, maintaining the safety, security, and operational integrity of the Seahawk Landing residential facility. This role ensures a welcoming and secure environment for student residents, guests, and visitors through vigilant monitoring, proactive engagement, and consistent enforcement of housing policies. This is a non-exempt position that reports to LSCPA’s Campus Safety Department.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certified Level III Commissioned Security Officer

• Associate’s degree from accredited college or university
• Prior experience in campus safety, security, or residence life

40 hours per week. 9:00 pm - 5:00 am. Must be able to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Sign in/out all residents, guests, and visitors entering or exiting Seahawk Landing

Verify identification

Maintain accurate logs of visitor activity and resident movement

Conduct hourly patrols of the dormitory grounds, including common areas, hallways, and outdoor spaces

Identify and report safety hazards, suspicious activity, or maintenance issues

Respond to emergencies and coordinate with emergency services as needed

Monitor live and recorded footage from dormitory security cameras

Report and document any incidents captured on video

Ensure camera systems are functioning properly and notify Director of Campus Safety of technical issues

Enforce housing policies and procedures in collaboration with Residence Life staff

Mediate minor disputes and escalate concerns to the Director of Safety

Submit incident reports and student conduct referrals when necessary

Assist with check-ins/check-outs during move-in and move-out periods

Support Resident Assistants and Housing staff during programming and events

Perform routine walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness, safety, and functionality of facilities

Submit maintenance requests and follow up on resolution

Participate in fire drills and emergency response training

Maintain readiness to respond to medical, fire, or security emergencies

Other related duties, as assigned
