Description Amazon Studios Technology is revolutionizing how entertainment decisions are made by building innovative data solutions that unlock insights across the content lifecycle. We're seeking skilled data engineers to join our Data & Insights team and help transform raw data into actionable intelligence that shapes the future of Amazon MGM Studios. Our mission is to empower 2,400+ customers across Studios and Prime Video organizations with reliable, timely data to drive business decisions. As a data engineer, you'll design and implement data pipelines that integrate diverse sources, ensure data quality, and enable self-service analytics capabilities. Key job responsibilities - Design and implement robust ETL pipelines across multiple data sources - Ensure data quality and consistency across the analytics ecosystem - Build automated data validation and monitoring solutions - Create and maintain data models that serve business intelligence needs - Optimize data warehouse performance and reliability - Implement data structures using best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, SQL, Oracle, and OLAP technologies - Data gathering/manipulation, modeling and problem-solving A day in the life - Develop new data pipelines for business-critical metrics - Troubleshoot data quality issues and implement fixes - Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to understand requirements - Optimize existing ETL processes for better performance - Support BI engineers in accessing and utilizing data models - Collaborate with engineers to help adopt best practices in data system creation, data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation - Investigate and resolve issues in data integrity, process failures - Help to continuously improve team processes and standards About the team We transform complex data from 20+ source systems into actionable insights that drive Studios' success. Our work enables teams to make data-driven decisions about content investment, production operations, and business strategy. We maintain high standards for data quality while delivering analytics capabilities that scale with Studios' growing needs. Basic Qualifications - 2+ years of data engineering experience - Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines - Experience with SQL - Experience with one or more scripting language (e.g., Python, KornShell) - Knowledge of basics of designing and implementing a data schema like normalization, relational model vs dimensional model Preferred Qualifications - Knowledge of writing and optimizing SQL queries in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets - Experience with one or more query language (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala) - Experience with any ETL tool like, Informatica, ODI, SSIS, BODI, Datastage, etc. - Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $91,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
