The Office of Legislative Legal Services (OLLS) is recruiting to fill several full-time Legislative Editors. The OLLS serves as nonpartisan legal counsel for the Colorado General Assembly, providing legal services to all legislators equally, without regard to party affiliation or political views. A Legislative Editor works with attorneys and other editors to prepare bills and resolutions, publish statutes, and review executive branch rules. Ideal candidates have strong editing, writing, and communication skills. Principal Job Functions and Responsibilities: Editing legislative drafts, amendments, legal memos, and documents for grammar, clarity, and readability; Providing feedback to attorneys and colleagues on document editing; Proofreading and inputting revisions into electronic documents; Reviewing and preparing statutes for publication; Drafting resolutions and memorials; Conducting basic legal research; and Prioritizing tasks and working efficiently under deadlines. Additional duties may include staffing legislative committees or serving as an amendment clerk in the chambers. Candidate Profile: Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, possess strong interpersonal skills, and understand or have experience with the legislative process or state government. Benefits: The salary ranges from $65,000 to $74,750 annually, depending on experience, with comprehensive benefits including health insurance, retirement contributions, paid leave, transit allowance, flexible schedules, and optional FSA/HSA accounts. Employees may also qualify for public service loan forgiveness. The work environment is flexible, supporting remote work throughout the year.
