We are seeking a highly motivated and creative scientist to join the Immunology and Inflammation Research Therapeutic Area as a Principal Scientist at Sanofi. This position will work in the Translational Immunology Group, a team with significant dedication to supporting our rich development pipeline. The position will support our pre-clinical research strategy for enhancing our understanding and competitiveness for our assets in multiple populations across dermatology, gastroenterology, respiratory and rheumatology. This role will involve executing programs of research generated in partnership with our teams in Development, Medical Affairs and Commercial to drive our research directions and maximize the value of these innovations. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to leverage Sanofi’s vast technical toolbox and application of AI, at scale, to contribute significantly to the path that our clinical portfolio takes. Opportunities to support new target discovery efforts will also present themselves. Research activities will be broad with the ideal candidate having strong technical expertise in both murine and human immunology. A successful candidate should be experienced with novel assay development (both in vitro and in vivo) and have a track record in immunological and disease pathway exploration. Technical expertise in imaging, cell-based assays, molecular techniques (including single cell approaches), and multi-omic based technologies will be necessary to further our research ambitions. The candidate should be able to scientifically lead and execute research work, analyze, and present data, and have an ability to utilize excellent technical, written, and oral communication skills (across both expert and non-expert audiences), and effectively collaborate in a team environment. Experience with mentoring junior members of teams is preferable. A successful candidate should be curious in exploring new paths for scientific discoveries and bold in proposing creative experimental designs and ideas. Ready to get started? Main Responsibilities: ‘Lead from the lab’ – This position has a heavy lab focus. The expectation is the successful candidate will continue to be lab active. They will independently formulate research hypotheses and apply scientific expertise to conceptualize, design and execute appropriate experiments to validate the hypothesis. Work collaboratively with multifunctional teams across Sanofi to leverage tools and expertise to further core research objectives. Stays at the forefront of scientific advances and applies acumen to ongoing research efforts and the strategic direction of experimental priorities. Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of laboratory conduct, safety and appropriate handling of materials. Support the personal and technical development of junior staff members.

ABOUT YOU

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree plus minimum 10 years of immunology research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting OR Master’s Degree plus minimum 7 years of immunology research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting OR PhD plus minimum 5 years of immunology research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting. Experience with single cell technologies (flow cytometry, single cell sequencing), genomic editing and molecular techniques. Experience in investigating inflammatory disease pathway biology in humans and mice. Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision and effectively within timelines and collaborate in a highly matrixed global environment. Possesses strong presentation skills, an exceptional work ethic and a willingness to spend time mentoring others. Preferred Qualifications: Drug discovery experience in respiratory, dermatologic, gastrointestinal, and/or sensory neuron inflammatory disorders. Experience of working with late stage clinical development teams Relevant immunology research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting. Hands-on-experience working with human respiratory, skin or gut tissue biopsies, mouse models of human inflammatory disease, multi-dimensional cell culture systems, immunological assays, and molecular techniques.
