Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Fiber Optic Splicer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for splicing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic cables in both aerial and underground environments. This position requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing of cables using fusion splicers and other tools.
· Conduct troubleshooting and repairs of fiber optic networks to ensure optimal performance.
· Interpret and follow network design plans, schematics, and documentation.
· Utilize Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (OTDR) and other testing equipment to evaluate and verify spliced fibers.
· Work in both aerial and underground settings, including manholes, conduits, and utility poles.
· Perform fiber optic cable preparation, including stripping, cleaning, and organizing fibers.
· Maintain accurate records of fiber splicing activities, test results, and work completed.
· Adhere to safety guidelines and industry standards while working in various environments.
· Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure timely completion of projects.
· Troubleshoot and repair fiber optic systems as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications in fiber optics preferred.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in fiber optic splicing in high count fiber
· Proficiency in using fusion splicers, OTDRs, power meters, and other fiber optic testing tools.
· Knowledge of EXFO OTDR and other test equipment a must.
· Experience with AFL Fujikura Fusion Splicer
· Strong understanding of fiber optic principles, network infrastructure, and industry standards.
· Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and specifications.
· Experience working in various environments, including underground, aerial, and confined spaces.
· Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
· Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
· Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently or in a team.
· Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts as required.
· Is a Nashville Tennessee based position must be able to be downtown Nashville, Tennessee in approximately an hour
Preferred Qualifications:
· Certifications such as FBA (Fiber Broadband Association), FOA (Fiber Optic Association), or equivalent.
· Experience working with telecommunications or utility companies.
· Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for working in fiber optic installations.
· CDL beneficial, but not required.
