About The Position
Job Title: Central Sterile Technician I Profession: Central Sterile Tech Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: No experience required; nine months' experience as a sterile technician is required if previously employed in certain locations; graduation from a sterile processing school is acceptable. License: N/A Certifications: N/A Must-Have: None required as long as other position qualifications are met. Description: Assembles baskets of instruments, basin sets, and equipment using appropriate checklists and prepares for sterilization. Assembles sets of supplies and instruments used in a variety of clinical settings. Checks for cleanliness and functionality, such as the sharpness of scissors and the smooth movement of hinged instruments. Decontaminates, disinfects, and thoroughly cleans supplies, instruments, and equipment used in various procedures. Distributes instruments, equipment, and supplies to the appropriate locations. Monitors and maintains adequate levels of supplies, instruments, and equipment. Monitors equipment for malfunctions and makes minor repairs. Notifies appropriate staff of the need for more major repairs. Demonstrates proficiency in the reprocessing and maintenance of endoscopes and other endoscopic equipment per high-level disinfection policy and manufacturer instructions. Maintains scope washers and washer adapters. Checks detergent levels and the effectiveness of disinfectant as per policy. Effectively communicates information regarding repairs, loaners, supplies, and quality improvement information by maintaining documentation of all actions. Wears personal protective equipment as per policy and maintains supplies needed for cleaning and reprocessing. Communicates effectively about equipment failures and needed repairs. Records data accurately in appropriate logs. Interacts with equipment according to manufacturer guidelines, demonstrating thorough knowledge of instrument and equipment instructions for use and processes instruments.
